Ethephon is a high-quality and efficient plant growth regulator. The main uses of ethephon are: promoting female flower differentiation, promoting fruit maturity, promoting plant dwarfing, and breaking plant dormancy.

There are three ways to use Ethephon to ripen tomatoes:
(1) Coating the peduncle:
When the fruit is white-ripe, apply 300mg/kg ethephon on the last two peduncles of the inflorescence. It will mature red in 3 to 5 days.
(2) Fruit coating:
Use 400mg/kg ethephon to coat the sepals of white-ripened fruit flowers and their adjacent fruit surfaces to advance red ripening 6 to 8 days.
(3) Fruit soaking:
After harvesting the fruits during the color-changing period, soak them in an ethephon solution of 2000-3000 mg/kg for 10-30 seconds, then take them out and place them at 25°C and air humidity of 80%-85% place. After ripening, it will turn red after 4 to 6 days and should be put on the market in time, but the ripened fruits will not be as bright as those on the plant.
