Applications

Some trees, such as cypress and pine, which are difficult to cut and take root, can induce cutting to take root faster by adding a small amount of 2, 4-drops into indole butyric acid（IBA) and naphthylacetic acid(NAA).

Kept fresh before harvest, so that citrus can be hung on trees for a period of time without picking. The specific method is: ✔ To spray the citrus fruit with the mixture of gibberellin and 2, 4-drops (5 ~ 15mg/L + 8 ~ 12mg/L) before turning from green to yellow.

Because gibberellin can inhibit the degradation of chlorophyll and delay the yellowing of the fruit, and 2, 4-drops can prevent the ripe citrus fruit from shedding, the mixture of gibberellin and 2, 4-drops can show good fruit preservation.

Physical and chemical properties

▶ 2, 4-drops of the original drug is white powder,
▶ Slightly phenolic odor,
▶ Melting point 140.5 ℃.
▶ The solubility in water at 25 ℃ is 620mg/L, which is soluble in acetone and ethanol, but insoluble in petroleum.
▶ Non-hygroscopic, corrosive.
▶ The solubility of 2, 4-drop salt is higher, for example, the solubility of 2, 4-drop sodium salt in water is 4.5%.
