Zeatin Cytokinin – Promotes Cell Proliferation and Regulates Shoot Differentiation and Adventitious Shoot Formation
Zeatin is a biologically active, naturally occurring cytokinin that plays an important regulatory role in plant cell proliferation, shoot differentiation, and organ formation. By participating in cell cycle regulation and related physiological and metabolic processes, zeatin promotes cell division and tissue development, creating favorable physiological conditions for shoot primordia formation and adventitious shoot induction.
During plant tissue culture and in vitro regeneration, zeatin works in coordination with auxins to regulate plant morphogenesis. Adjusting the ratio of these plant growth regulators can influence callus differentiation, shoot induction, and shoot proliferation.
Furthermore, zeatin is involved in the regulation of axillary bud development, apical dominance, and branching. It is widely used in research and applications related to rapid plant propagation, tissue-cultured plant multiplication, plant variety improvement, and the regulation of plant growth and development.
