Physicochemical Properties and Toxicity of 98% TC Chlormequat Chloride

TC (Technical Concentrate) refers to the technical-grade active ingredient used as a raw material for manufacturing various pesticide formulations, such as soluble concentrates. It is not intended for direct application to agricultural fields.
Appearance and Properties: Chlormequat chloride 98% TC is typically a white to off-white solid powder. It is highly soluble in water and readily absorbs moisture from the air (hygroscopic). Its aqueous solution is relatively stable.

Suitable Crops and Application Guidelines
Chlormequat chloride is widely used across various crops. However, the 98% TC technical material itself should not be applied directly to crops. The following application guidelines are provided as references based on formulated products, such as 50% aqueous solutions.
* Wheat: Used to reduce lodging and support yield improvement. Foliar spraying can be carried out during the early stem elongation stage after regreening. Alternatively, seeds can be treated with a 3–5% solution before sowing.
* Cotton: Used to control excessive vegetative growth and support yield improvement. Foliar application is generally carried out from the early flowering stage to full bloom. Seed soaking with a 0.3–0.5% solution is another application method.
* Maize: Used to support yield improvement. Seed soaking with a 0.5% solution is a commonly referenced application method before sowing.
* Potatoes: Used to regulate above-ground growth and promote tuber development. Application from the budding stage to the flowering stage can help control excessive stem and leaf growth and support tuber enlargement.
* Other Crops: Chlormequat chloride is also widely used in rice, sorghum, tobacco, tomatoes, and various vegetable and tuber crops.
