Functions
Using appropriate plant growth regulators can significantly reduce the difficulty of propagation via cuttings, enabling rapid rooting and seedling establishment while markedly improving efficiency and survival rates.

I. Common Types of Rooting Regulators for Cuttings
Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA): A natural endogenous rooting substance with a high safety profile; it directly induces rapid new root formation at the base of the cutting and is suitable for the vast majority of woody and herbaceous cuttings.

Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA):Offers consistent rooting performance and produces more robust root systems; it is the most widely used classic rooting agent in propagation.

Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA):Promotes rapid callus formation; when combined with IBA in scientifically determined ratios, the rooting effect is far superior to using either agent alone.

Sodium nitrophenolate:Used in conjunction with rooting agents, it activates cellular activity in the cuttings, helping to prevent issues such as rot or wilting prior to rooting.

II. Key Application Methods
Quick-dip method: Briefly dip the base of the cutting (2–3 cm) into a high-concentration rooting solution for 3–5 seconds before immediate planting; this method is highly efficient and suitable for large-scale operations.

Soaking method:Soak the base of the cutting in a low-concentration rooting solution for 2–12 hours to ensure full absorption; this method is ideal for hard-to-root woody cuttings and yields more consistent results.

Substrate mixing method:Evenly mix a low-concentration rooting agent into the rooting substrate; the agent is released slowly after planting to provide continuous stimulation for root development, making it suitable for softwood cuttings.
