Forchlorfenuron is a phenylurea plant growth regulator that increases yield by promoting cell division and improving photosynthetic efficiency, while also improving fruit quality, including increasing sweetness and promoting coloring.
Mechanism of Action
Forchlorfenuron Sweetening: Forchlorfenuron enhances the rate of photosynthesis, promotes carbohydrate synthesis and transport, thereby increasing the sugar content in the fruit. For example, when used on melons, it can significantly increase the soluble solids content (i.e., sweetness) of the fruit.
Forchlorfenuron Coloring: By regulating nutrient distribution and promoting chlorophyll synthesis, chlorfenuron can improve the uniformity of fruit color. On fruits such as cherries, spraying two weeks after flowering can promote coloring.
Application Methods and Precautions
Applicable Crops: Widely used on crops such as grapes, melons, watermelons, apples, and cherries.
