1-Naphthyl Acetic Acid (NAA) enhances disease resistance, cytokinin promotes growth, triacontanol enhances growth vigor, heart-encapsulating agents increase yield by 15%, and rare earth micronutrient fertilizers increase yield by 10%-15%—the scientific use of growth regulators can improve both the yield and quality of cabbage.

In  cabbage cultivation, farmers can use a variety of growth regulators to enhance disease resistance, increase yield, accelerate heart-encapsulation, and improve overall quality. Below, we will detail several commonly used regulators, their usage methods, and appropriate dosages.

Growth Regulator Types and Applications
▲ Functions and Uses of 1-Naphthyl Acetic Acid (NAA)

Naphthyl Acetic Acid is a common growth regulator that effectively enhances  cabbage disease resistance, promotes plant growth, and helps increase yield. Farmers should adhere to appropriate dosages to ensure its safe and effective use.

Methods to Reduce Bulb Shedding: Before harvesting Chinese cabbage, farmers can use two methods to reduce bulb shedding. First, spray the base of the cabbage with a 50-100 mg/L Naphthyl Acetic Acid solution before harvest. Alternatively, soak the cabbage roots in a similar solution before storage. Both methods effectively reduce bulb shedding and improve storage quality.

Preventing Dry Heart: Because calcium has poor mobility within the plant, it is difficult to transfer effectively. Therefore, spraying a mixture of 0.3%-0.7% calcium chloride solution and 50 mg/L Naphthyl Acetic Acid solution during the early stages of cabbage heading can significantly improve calcium application and effectively prevent dry heart.

▲ Use of Cytokinin

Cytokinin promotes the growth of  cabbage and can be widely used as a seed dressing or foliar spray. When dressing seeds, thoroughly mix one part cytokinin with two parts Chinese cabbage seeds before sowing. At the seedling, rosette, and early heart-forming stages, apply 600x diluted cytokinin solution to the foliage, applying 50-70 liters per acre (approximately 1.5 to 2.5 acres). Adjust the amount of foliar spray based on plant size: spray less for smaller seedlings and more for larger ones.

Combination recommendations for improved effectiveness: It's important to note that while cytokinin can reduce the severity of diseases, it cannot replace conventional disease control measures.

▲ Triacontanol's Effects

During critical growth stages of cabbage, such as the seedling stage, rosette stage, and early head-forming stage, it's recommended to spray with a Triacontanol solution at a concentration of 0.5-1 mg/L, with 50 liters applied per mu (approximately 1.5 acres) at a time. This significantly enhances plant growth, resulting in brighter leaf color, improved disease resistance, and helps achieve earlier maturity and increase yield. The optimal concentration range is 0.5-1.0 mg/L. The best time to spray is usually after 3:00 PM.

Precautions: After using Triacontanol, it's important to strengthen fertilizer and water management and coordinate pest and disease control efforts. Triacontanol can also be mixed with other pesticides (but be careful to avoid alkaline pesticides).

▲ Application of Head-forming Agents
During the head-forming stage, it's recommended to apply 100 grams of a cabbage-specific head-forming agent per mu (approximately 100 grams) diluted with 30-50 kg of water for spraying. This approach is expected to increase yields by approximately 15% and effectively prevent various cabbage diseases, including soft rot, blackheart, and dry heart.

▲ The Effect of Rare Earth Micronutrient Fertilizers

After cabbage seedlings are established, it is recommended to spray 50 kg of a 0.05% rare earth solution per acre (approximately 1.5 acres) three times, 10 days apart. This can increase yields by an estimated 10%-15%. Additionally, during the rosette, head, and heart stages, spraying 0.03%, 0.05%, and 0.08% nitrate solutions three times, respectively, can also achieve a yield increase of approximately 10%. Applying rare earth micronutrient fertilizers after establishing and at various other times can increase yields and improve plant quality.
